Milton Friedman

We lost a great advocate for economic freedom recently with the passing of Milton Friedman. Even to the end of his active life, he was espousing the doctrines of free market economics cogently and brilliantly:
I think that nothing is so important for freedom as recognizing in the law each individual's natural right to property, and giving individuals a sense that they own something that they're responsible for, that they have control over, and that they can dispose of.
The free world owes him a debt of gratitude. And the socialized world ... socialism remains a toxic prescription for poverty that has caused and continues to cause untold misery to millions. Yet the siren call of Government controls and anti-capitalism beckons fear-mongering demagogues and dictators. Friedman is gone, but the cause of economic freedom continues.
